Last year’s JRA Day was a great success and one of our best artist sales days ever. We plan to continue to offer free admission and are expanding our efforts to promote the show. Last year, most artists sold individual works at prices ranging from below $25 to as much as $600, and we expect a similar group of buyers this year. Promotion is done through postcards, the web site, social media, listserv notices, and press releases. Participating artists will receive postcards in both physical and electronic form for distribution.

There is no booth fee for JRA Day.  Instead, the JRA will receive 40 percent of all proceeds from the first $500 of each artist's sales and 30% of all additional sales.  The Renwick Alliance collects sales tax and covers credit card fees. Details are included in the application and contract.

JRA Day is open to all craft artists who are members of the James Renwick Alliance. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. During the initial application period from mid-May through June 15, 2020, preference will be given to artists who participated in last year's show. Please read the application form and contract carefully, as they describe the terms and conditions for participation in JRA Day.

In addition to the application form, artists who wish to participate in JRA Day must submit biographical information and at least three reproducible 300 dpi JPEG images that reflect current work and that are different from images previously used by JRA Day. An application is not considered complete until the bio and images are received.

If you are not a JRA member, you may apply for the show, but participants must hold a paid membership in the organization within a month of acceptance in the event and on JRA Day.  Memberships for professional craft artists start at the ART level (Alliance for Renwick Tomorrow) at $80 per year. For additional information on JRA membership go to, call 301.907.3888, or email

JRA Day is sponsored by the James Renwick Alliance, which celebrates and advances American Craft and craft artists by fostering education, connoisseurship, and public appreciation through programs, educational trips, publications, and recognition of excellence in the field.  In addition, we provide support to craft artists and museums, including the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
